Haastrupgaard was build in 2001 as a greenfield facility and is continuously being adapted to the development in the industry, latest in 2009.
We started as a production herd with sales of 7kilo piglets in 2001. It was initially the thought that Haastrupgaard should be a multiplier herd. In 2005 we began the conversion of our production to multiplier by continuously adding YY gilts to our production. In 2008 we bought a breeding contract and rights to Yorkshire.
We have since the beginning in 2001 until today maintained the highest health status.
Today there are 1200 sows per year with 1000 Yorkshire sows in the multiplication herd for the production of F1 pigs and 200 Yorkshire purebred sows breeding for the production of our own YY core and for resale of both gilts and boars.
The housing unit is based, in addition with of other types, on a transponder feeding system for the gestating sows and with a liquid feed system in the farrowing unit. The feed incl. for piglets is home-mixed.
In 2014 Grønlundgård was build – a new stable for our gilts. The stable is highly equipped with the newest technology.
